SOS Program

Help Families In Need!

Every month, many families in our District need help with their utility bills. And every month, our customers donate generously to our SOS Program to help those families in need.

The SOS Program is supported entirely by voluntary contributions from our customers. Those funds are turned over to local service agencies for distribution to PUD customers who need assistance with their electric bills. The PUD doesn't retain any of the donated money for administrative purposes. Eligibility for receiving help from this program is determined by the local agencies, and is based on federally-defined poverty levels.

If you'd like to help those in need, you can make a donation through the PUD. Just pick one of these three convenient methods of participating.

SOS Donation.
Just write the amount of your donation on your PUD return billing stub in the space provided, and add it to the amount of your normal electric payment. You can then simply make out one check for that total amount. If you'd prefer, you may make your donation with a separate check, made payable to the "SOS Program."
This option is not available to customers on our AutoPay plan, because those customers don't actually send in a payment.

SOS Round-Up.
Your current monthly billing amount will be "rounded up" to the next even dollar amount. For example, if your bill would normally be $56.54, the program would automatically round it up to $57.00. The extra 46¢ would go to the SOS program. The donated amount would average about 50¢ per month, or $6.00 per year. That doesn't seem like a lot, but if we can get thousands of customers to participate, that provides a lot of help to families in need.
This option in not available to customers on our Level Pay plan, because those bills are already rounded to the nearest dollar.

SOS Monthly Pledge.
You simply select an amount that you'd like to donate each month, and we automatically add that to your monthly bill. That extra amount then goes to the SOS program.

So if you're interested in helping our neighbors who are in need of financial help with their electricity bills, please participate in the SOS program. Just pick the option that works best for you, and let us know. Contact your local office, fill in the form in our monthly newsletter, or send us an e-mail at webmaster@cencoast.com. It's as simple as that to make a big difference in someone's life.
